WING Spotlight Interview: Peter Crowe
by Victor Thorn
1) If it weren't for the home computer, none of us would be reading WING Magazine right now. How monumental do you think the impact of home computers has been on our lives, and has there been any technological innovation other than the light bulb which is comparable?
The Internet has certainly proved itself as a quantum leap in communication as well as providing us immediate access to a plethora of resources that only a few years ago one could only wish for. There exists such a vast wealth of information right at one's fingertips ... at any time ... with just a whim. Given the present costs for online services and the array of connectivity, it's still comparatively inexpensive. For each of us, the discovery of the Internet can be a thrilling adventure enabling us to find out about anything we may have ever had an interest in ... and interact with those with like interests. There are still so many people that have yet to imagine the depths of what's out there ...... hopefully, their discovery still lies ahead.
2) Could you give us your impressions of the heyday of UFO research which took place in the late 1980's and early 1990's, specifically:
- Bill Cooper
- Bob Lazar
- John Lear
- The Gulf Breeze Incident
- Billy Meier
I believe the real heyday of ufology would have been in the 1950's when the government was ill-prepared to respond to all of the reports of various sightings, crash sites, cattle mutilations, abductions and other inexplicable phenomena. Information was spreading faster than the government was equipped to handle it ... the reins on the media hadn't yet been able to be fully yanked, and ufology quickly became "the rage". Had there been an Internet then, there would have surely been more validation for these reports. However, government response at that time was eventually applied in all forms of media, utilizing psychological tools ... disinformation, witness ridicule, character assassination, outright assassination, etc ... and there was no viable means for any one private individual or group to respond. Such was the way it was. The public's access to the Internet in no way means that such information is now totally uncensored. On the contrary, the general public's access to the Internet is a clear indicator that government control of information has long since developed into an exact science.
But pardon my brief rant and let me get back to your question. As far as the Gulf Breeze incident, may I just say that mankind has been experiencing extraordinary events for ages. How these events have been interpreted, or misinterpreted, is a whole other matter. As for Cooper, Lazar, Lear and Meier, each of these men have greatly contributed to the public's awareness of ufology, and I believe each to have made great sacrifices, suffered extreme ridicule and more for simply sharing publicly what they believe they've seen, heard and experienced.
3) What future innovations do you envision for home computers and the Internet over the next 5-10 years?
With the increase in computer processor speeds and faster data transmission rates, I see the Internet's popularity continuing to grow at a steady rate as well as the quality of its content. There will eventually be some type of tax structure applied as Internet commerce has grown exponentially, and still continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. I also see security being a major issue (it is right now!) ... any door open to the Internet will allow some access in reverse, whether hackers, solicitors or spies, you can be sure that somebody's keeping tabs.
4) There was a movie that came out a year or two ago called "Signs" starring Mel Gibson that dealt with crop circles. Could you please give your ideas on this subject and how they are formed?
Having both read and written on the subject of crop circles, my thoughts have not changed ... it's quite simple. At the onset of our satellite age, the first call for service was for a military related application, and this has since evolved ... initially, an eye in the sky with the subsequent capability to affect an acquired target. As an analogy, it's what happens when a sniper adjusts his scope. He simply fires his rifle at a fixed target while a spotter notes the snipers' accuracy. Any type of space based weaponry is going to require tuning ... and how can one be assured of the accuracy of this high tech space based weaponry when acquiring a ground based target? Well, you fire at a test area while spotting for accuracy. When then-president Ronald Reagan delivered his Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) speech in 1983, thus publicizing the government's intention to develop a space-based system of defense, you can be assured that the real "Star Wars" had long since been in place (no top secret endeavor is ever publicly revealed unless it's secret existence is now outdated and the second generation evolvement of the first project has been complete .. .and you probably couldn't even imagine what the new system is capable of and what it's real purpose is!). I cannot fathom any other reason for these circles since the beginning of our "space age." However, the occurrences of crop circles before the Space Age were likely some type of messaging ... but certainly not meant for man!
5) If you had to suggest one CD, movie, and book that everyone should check out, what would they be?
Well, other than for strictly entertainment value, "Behold a Pale Horse" written by Bill Cooper would be one of my book recommendations. I personally deem Cooper one of the most in-depth researchers in ufology and related subjects for his time. Basically, in one breath, he said that Kennedy was assassinated by elements of our own government as well as having affirmed the existence of aliens ... and everything in between. What a mouthful. He also strongly advised everyone to do their own research, offering his information only as a guide for his readers and listeners so that each may experience their own personal discovery. "Introduction to the Greens" would be the movie (a documentary of course ... and if you could only find it!). But for a mainstream source, try "Fire in the Sky" or "The UFO Incident" (with James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons, circa 1975). Or, you can simply start where I did ... with one topic, and then exhaust it. Extend yourself on to the next topic that has now been lent some credibility based on your prior reading. Continue your trail on to the next topic; however unrelated it may seem ... and so on ... until you've covered such a wide variety of topics, those you once thought could never possibly be related. Only then will you have begun to delve into those inner layers that will forever change what you once considered reality.
6) There's new evidence and speculation by people in the know that the "Alien Autopsy" could actually be genuine. What are your impressions on this topic?
The footage is definitely dramatic. Do I think it's real? Maybe ... but for me, it doesn't matter. I've long since crossed the threshold in my belief system as to the existence of extraterrestrial life. However, no one should rely on one single second-hand event or piece of information as a basis for their own personal conclusions as to the actual existence of such phenomenon. Such evidence should only be considered as a means to a final conclusion. It should be a matter of discovery for each one of us ... and I guarantee quite a roller coaster ride along their path if one really wants to dig into subjects most consider ludicrous. As far as the 'Alien Autopsy,' for many people it was their first real exposure to such a phenomenon. Hopefully, a portion of them used this as their first step in their discovery.
7) Is there one historical figure that you most respect or identify with?
Most certainly, former president John F. Kennedy. I was in 3rd grade on November 22, 1963 when he was assassinated. My concern at that time was how all the related coverage would interfere with my normal television cartoon viewing. As an adult, and having experienced and interacted with people from many walks of life, it became apparent that there was so much more going on than what I was taught and exposed to. I was raised with a lot of freedoms ... freedoms that allowed me virtually no limits in what I could say and learn and think. I was free to believe I knew everything ... and thus, there I became STUCK in my conventional thinking. Eventually, after being exposed to so many differing thoughts and philosophies of friends and acquaintances, I began to question the accuracy of what I believed I knew, and essentially became UNSTUCK. The only problem is, unless your evaluations include correct variables, your conclusions will always be skewed. I went full circle with my questions and ended right back at the beginning, more clueless than when I started. It was then that I began to look at Kennedy ... his life, his beliefs, and his assassination. I worked my way backwards, forward, then backwards again. What I initially found scared the hell out of me. I discovered that the unfathomable was real, and would soon discover that I had only scratched the surface as to the magnitude of the secrecy. Kennedy was a great man, and it was only by studying his life, and his death, that I happened across a totally different way of looking at life and death, and everything in between.
8) Is there one event from your youth that you would say has had the most effect on making you who you are today?
I was raised with all the conventions that parents would normally provide their children ... all with the best of intentions. My parents, both raised to be eventual non-practicing Catholics, naturally raised me as an eventual non-practicing catholic ... church, school, philosophy ... everything I was taught dealt with a higher power that no one had control over. It was 'be good or be damned.' I grew to realize that everyone was a hypocrite ... including myself. But that was acceptable because that was the way I was raised, and that's the way it was. I never really questioned why there could exist so many completely opposing views on life and death, but that they were all were acceptable. It didn't make any sense, but that was the way it was. It was all conditioning. There was no one real event that caused me to step back and realize that's not really the way it is, and it's not really the way I want to continue to believe it is. It just sort of happened. It didn't take much research to understand that Catholicism was greatly flawed ... as were most other belief systems ... and a turn to science only demonstrated that, without having all the correct variables, those results would also be flawed. Even now, for as much as I think I may know, it is still calculated guesswork. However, I am quite sure that religion is a sign of mental illness...
9) Okay, I'd like to ask you some questions regarding your work that will appear in an upcoming edition of the Common Sense series. First of all, in a piece entitled, "UFO's over Mexico City," you state, "We truly are like frogs in a pot, and we don't even realize that the water's getting extremely hot." Could you elaborate on this concept?
We are all born innocent. And our naivety, though purposeful as a young child, is gradually broken down as we go through life, causing great voids in our thought processes as to what we believe, often leaving us very confused and very susceptible to whatever stigma that is introduced to us. We are, basically, products of our environment ... garbage in, garbage out!
10) In "Santa Claus Isn't Real," you ask, "How does one test the truth they believe in?" What process do you go through to test the truth of something?
Simple ... if you're not satisfied with some of the answers, seriously consider the possibility of other variables to put into your formula, then make up your own mind. If you're still unable to come to a conclusion, dig a little deeper on the next pass. At the risk of defying instilled conventions and breaching your conditioning, you may have to reach a bit into the absurd to find the real truth.
11) Your material shows a very strong interest and fascination with paranormal subjects such as ESP and channeling. You also explain how a psychic phenomenon such as Edgar Cayce probably wouldn't make into the public arena today because the government would most likely snatch him up for their own purposes. Could you further give your ideas on this notion?
I think that any exceptional person, someone with the most minute of any extraordinary mental ability, is going to manifest this talent at a very early age ... an age when one is always under the watchful eye of a parent or guardian ... an age where a responsible parent or guardian would be providing regular health care ... and, at an age where the parent or guardian cannot help but brag about their child's talent (whether they have any or not). As a real talent may be relayed to a healthcare professional, and depending on the degree of the talent, a specialist would eventually be involved. This individual would likely be enrolled in some special school while their capabilities are evaluated and honed. Determinations would then be made as to their entire future. It's no mystery that in all my travels, I've never had any association with anyone who demonstrated any extraordinary ability whatsoever. Conversely, when any Tom, Dick, Harry or Cleo can legally commercially advertise their "psychic" ability, this is certainly an indicator of government condoned misinformation. Not by endorsing it, but by simply allowing the continued public victimization by these self-proclaimed prophets. As this is certainly not a matter of freedom of speech, the government is allowing these individuals as wide a berth as they do for the "church". What's wrong with this picture!
12) The six levels of existence (bugs, dogs/cats, humans, physical telepaths, part physical/part energy, & pure energy) are listed in a piece called "Carlos Castaneda and Beyond." You then continue by asking, "Can energy recycle itself into a higher form?" with your answer being "Yes." What are your views on how we can evolve from one level of existence to another?
It is certainly interesting to ponder that, as 70% of the planet is covered with salt water and the earth has an iron core, we live on the largest battery in the galaxy. There is energy constantly interacting in and around our space, and there are magnetic anomalies in existence all around our planet. Our bodies have electromagnetic properties that encapsulate energy until death. Our brains are only able to function by the use of electrical impulses. The military has been experimenting with manipulating this energy for decades. They've certainly developed technologies that can now tamper with this system. And then there are the cautions associated with living in the vicinity of high tension power sources which have been covered up for decades.
Anyway, all life forms have an energy that I believe are derived from the same pool that our own life energy will flow into upon our deaths ... the same pool that will be drawn from for the creatures who come into existence tomorrow. I haven't a clue as to the dictates that determine the type or proportion of energy the cycles itself throughout our various life forms. It may be as simple as each life form naturally draws what it needs, all from the same pool, according to its size, genetic make-up, and magnetic properties. On the other hand, there may even be an even simpler mechanism. I don't think that energy can necessarily recycle itself into a higher form. More likely it is the same energy which is used by the higher life form which simply has a more complex set of circuits ... like a computer with a personality ... but with a great propensity for error.
13) I've always agreed with a concept you relate in "Dead Men Tell No Tales" where you say, "Logic does not prevail when, regardless of how far fetched it may sound, that logic provides reasonable explanations for all those things that man considers anomalous and phenomena." In other words, would you concur that the mainstream scientific community sweeps anything "paranormal" under the rug (at least publicly) just because they can't provide logical or rational explanations?
I believe much of mainstream science lacks all the correct variables in order to formulate correct conclusions. Without these variables, they can only get close. They can keep getting "halfway to the center," but regardless of how many advances, they will never actually reach the center. The correct variables are protected as a matter of control. All information has value, and it is protected until its release has purpose other than for the benefit of man. This is a cycle that's repeated itself throughout the ages. It's what man does by nature.
14) The subject of secret societies opens your "Eden and Evolution" piece. My question to you is: how do certain groups use "hidden knowledge" to gain certain advantages in society? We can certainly both agree that knowledge is power ... as repeatedly exemplified in history ... and continues to be ....
As in the answer to the previous question, "hidden knowledge" is basically that which is relevant, but will not be shared unless there is some benefit to those who possess this information. This form of retention is basically a tool for manipulation and control.
15) You address the media and its various techniques of "presenting" information to the public, specifically saying, "We get to observe some of the most refined propaganda in this age of instant global communication, especially within the United States." How do you think the media has handled our 9-11 terrorist attacks and its aftermath?
Only an event on U.S. soil could provide a move toward further establishing a New World Order. The media steers its news in many directions, being constantly influenced by a range of sources. For those with long term memory retention - watch and see. For those with short term memory, get in line with the rest of the automatons. This will clearly be a perfect example of selective media presentation ... from sources so deep they have no names.
16) In "The Failure of our Species," you talk about how political and religious leaders have historically manipulated mankind in a type of quasi-pyramid scheme. When you look at humanity today as a whole, is the glass ½ empty or ½ full?
I'm an optimist ... the glass is definitely half empty. We are a cyclical species. We are born, thrive, we corrupt, we outgrow our ability to control ourselves and we will, most definitely, self destruct. Enjoy life to its fullest when the opportunities are there. Contribute in order to create those opportunities. Appreciate your family and friends. When we come upon hard times, try to minimize their impact ... and appreciate fully the good times. Most of all, try to discover all along the way ... it assists us on keeping both feet firmly on the ground.
17) Being a writer, language, words, and their origins have always fascinated me. You delve into this subject during "Faith, Hope, or Clarity," theorizing that the lack of understanding between people of various countries was intentionally fashioned to keep them from communicating. Have I accurately summarized your views?
People will polarize themselves by nature ... as individuals, as groups, as societies, etc. Comprehensive studies have been conducted that documented various mixes of ethnicities slowly, but imminently separating into their own little communities. On a grander scale, it certainly benefits a country to maintain a trend towards separation in the name of patriotism. And because it's impossible to create true solidarity within, adversity is created from the exterior ... as individuals, as groups, as societies, etc. This has the same effect. And while we are at it, lets change some languages (thus limiting communication), establish a few gods to honor (control morality), establish a barter system (to control wealth and enable poverty and hunger), establish a chain of command (let the people choose between 2 or 3 flavors of Kool-aid), have an abundance of leaders in the wings (honing their skills of lying while leading smaller groups and practicing saying 'yes'), and establish some layers of monitors between the controllers and the masses (empowered with the art of deception ... at any cost) ... and this all happens naturally.
18) You define perception as, "That which we perceive only to the extent that we are allowed" in "Simulated Freedom." What suggestions would you give to someone reading this interview on how to open their doors of perception?
We've been brainwashed since birth, and it's a most difficult task to shed some of the basic conventions we've been raised upon when they are reaffirmed every day in the media, at school, at work ... it's even in cartoons! It's a matter of conditioning, something that we've always been susceptible to ... it's in our nature. If someone hasn't a clue what I'm referring to, then I could only suggest that they question the one thing that they believe in most, whatever that may be, and keep scratching at it until they discover the flaw.
19) Similar to my review of "The Report From Iron Mountain," you mention a Rand Report in "Masers, Lasers, Phasers, or Plasma Scopes" that essentially says that "Society COULD NOT survive without war." Considering how our War Machine is rolling along at full-speed, what are your views on our latest efforts in Afghanistan and beyond?
Simply put, war is a necessary evil. There is so much literature, including extremely comprehensive studies, to support this condition. Mankind's history is predicated on war, and will continue to be the case. The war machine has little regard to no regard for life and the environment that supports it. This is clearly evidenced at a global level when you look at those nations whose populations are starving ... and everyone is already aware of our current environmental issues ... and no one is near informed as to the seriousness of the environmental problem. And we will continue going to war ... and we will continue to die. There will always be good cause for war ... or so we are told.
20) In "The End," you comment on Atlantis being "One of the most advanced societies to ever exist, both spiritually and technologically," yet it still came to an end. What do you feel are the primary factors that lead to a culture's demise?
There's one primary factor ... they only had five senses ... they lacked a sixth. This is still the case.
21) If you had the ability to change five things on this planet, what would they be?
We live in a dangerous world and always have. It is the self-destructive nature inherent in our species ... maybe not as apparent in individuals, but certainly as societies. We've managed to segregate ourselves using geography, language, religion, nationality, politics, race, culture, gender, and the list goes on and on ... it is no mystery. We have not really outgrown our ability to reverse these trends, but are just plain incapable of it! However, this segregation has probably been the foremost contributing factor to mans' longevity wherein these barriers certainly inhibit our ability to speedily destroy each other. Unfortunately, though, even at a slowed pace, we are still doing a good job of it already. To get back to your question, there is so much misinformation on global warming, the degradation of the ozone layer, fatal diseases, etc., that it is hard to know where to start. The number one blight on this planet is certainly man himself. But barring my own destruction, there's really not much that is non-man related that can be done to reverse the events that have delivered us to the state we are in today. However, so as not to avoid the question, I would change only three things: 1) Change mans' attitude towards his fellow man and his environment. 2) Legalize polygraph testing for anyone in government and in the court system. 3) All driver's will be conscious and considerate of those persons driving behind them!
Now, if this doesn't make life more interesting, nothing will!
22) On the Art Bell Show recently, Richard Hoagland, author of "The Monuments of Mars" stated unequivocally that he is 99% certain that there are structures on Mars that weren't "naturally-formed," but were created by past inhabitants, or visitors, to that planet. What are your views on this subject?
I have had the opportunity to personally attend some of Hoagland's lectures. His documentation is quite compelling. And, because he is a scientist, he has to state that he is 99% rather that 100% certain. I have no doubt that he is probably better than 99% accurate. Again, he is only one person that is providing a stepping stone of information for anyone seeking to find some of the answers that we all seek ... who are we ... why are we here ... where did we come from, and where are we going. For many, the first question needing an answer would be ... what could possibly be the reason for all this information to be so secret in the first place, considering the implications of these answers if they were true. There is really no simple answer to this question ... this is by design so that the masses are readily susceptible to an array of alternative erroneous conclusions. Hoagland puts solid information out there. The only problem for most people is that without having already established some foundation on this or related topics, most would think his findings too much of a stretch and dismiss him as just another lunatic. If his work were ever to be confirmed as accurate by the same sources that, in the past, have always labeled findings of this nature as mysteries, anomalies, or just speculative dribble, the basic premises that society has been raised upon would begin to unravel so fast, society as we know it would collapse like a house of cards.
23) If you had an opportunity to meet with one LIVING public personality of your choice, who would it be?
As I have always wanted to tour a true top secret U.S. Government facility, I'd really like to meet the man in charge of site security for Area 51 ... famous in his own circles, but invisible to the rest of us. So, as this person is not a "public personality," and as there is absolutely no one in politics that I would like to have spout their lies at me face to face, I would have to lean towards a meeting with Dan Rather. He's been a player in the big game for quite some time! As his roots trail back to the JFK assassination, and he certainly has knowledge of all the mysteries surrounding the Zapruder video tape, I would certainly be interested in hearing his responses to some of my questions ... and we might as well include all those still living who sat on the Warren Commission!
24) How about a few words on the late, great Edgar Cayce.
When I was first introduced to channeling, I had not paid much attention to this particular phenomenon as it seemed implausible and somewhat off the track of what I was seeking. However, not until I was introduced to the work of Edgar Cayce by a friend who was on a parallel course of discovery, did I really understand and give credence to this phenomenon. Cayce was undeniably a modern day prophet. It pains me to know that there are probably so many others out there with such gifts, but their presence has long since been veiled in secrecy for the purpose of some government enterprise. However, if ever I had the opportunity to ask a true prophet a question, and being only human, it would take a great deal of restraint not to ask what next weeks lotto numbers would be!
25) Finally, I view your collection of pieces in our "New World Order" section equal to or surpassing any of the great political-philosophical-psychological-and sociological tracts ever written. What are your feelings on these pieces as you look back upon them?
These pieces were all written at a time when, after having first sampled a few bits of reality, I developed an insatiable appetite for more. I was truly on the trail of answers to questions that have puzzled man his entire existence. I was churning ideas, filtering through a plethora of information, digesting the probable, storing the plausible, shelving the possible, and tossing the rubbish. I had been so inspired by my trail of discoveries that my thoughts, ideas, conclusions and speculations eventually manifested themselves onto paper. I believe my opinions still apply, and only hope that those who have perused my material can glimpse at some truth as I have seen it ... not to be frustrated or feel defeated ... but to be inspired to learn more and hopefully enhance their appreciation for life.
