Mike Gallagher's Paranoid Terror Chamber
by Victor Thorn

On the morning of Friday, August 27th, Lisa Guliani and I were threatened with arrest outside of the King's Inn Motel in Williamsport, Pa. Our "crime"? We wanted to meet radio talk show host Mike Gallagher and give him some books and a t-shirt. But we were never given this opportunity, for Mike Gallagher had the entire restaurant where he was broadcasting from locked-down solid, with every door bolted-shut to shield him from the public. In all honesty, though, Mike didn't need to take these irrational precautions because except for us, there wasn't any public waiting to see him anyway - no fans, autograph seekers, or supporters. Thus, Mike sat huddled in the darkened eatery, his mind reeling with fear, suspicion, and paranoia.

In the meantime, to further guarantee that Lisa and I wouldn't encroach upon his overly-guarded space, a secret service-type bodyguard and a limo driver were instructed to tell us that we were "denied access" to the restaurant, and that if we didn't immediately leave the premises, we would be arrested. But these measures must not have been enough to quell Gallagher's terrified mind, for soon a motel employee arrived on the scene, along with not only one, but two squad cars from the local police department.

Now, if all of these individuals had bought into Gallagher's fear-laden lunacy, they would have expected to find two Mansonesque serial killers in their midst. Instead, what they found were two people wearing WING TV t-shirts who had made big yellow posters playfully declaring:

        1) Mike's the Best
        2) Mike for Prez
        3) We Love Mike
        4) Mike's Our Hero

But Mike had turned this situation into such an overblown farce that when we initially checked into the King's Motel the previous afternoon, a woman behind the counter asked us on three different occasions if we were going to kill Mike Gallagher! Can you believe it? Mike's people must have gotten to her too and filled her with a healthy dose of fear.

But by the time we left the King's Inn Restaurant that morning, every person involved - including the two police officers - were laughing with hilarity at this absurd situation. Everyone, that is, except Mike Gallagher, who was still huddled inside the darkened, locked-down restaurant; his knees shaking and limbs quivering due to the manic paranoia coursing through his severely troubled mind. Can you imagine how utterly embarassed and humiliated he must have felt when his "people" and the police officers told him that we had big yellow signs, a t-shirt and books for him, party favors, and that we intended to do the wave during his broadcast. Believe me; harming Mike was the last thing on our minds. We just wanted to have some fun --- Merry Prankster style!

The most pathetic aspect of our 'encounter' with Mike Gallagher was what happened after his show began. Y'see, for weeks Gallagher had been urging everyone in the Williamsport area to visit him while he did his show. Yet there wasn't ONE person in the parking lot except us. Nobody even cared enough to show up. Ya'd think Mike would at least thank us for that tiny gesture!

Worse, Mike's bodyguard told us that if anyone had come to see him, they would have been turned away because the entire eatery was locked-down. That means nobody was permitted inside to do what people ususally do at restaurants - eat! (That must have been really good for business, especially at the height of the Little League World Series.) So, to compensate for the fact that he was broadcasting from an empty room where there should have been scores of people, Mike's producer pumped in CANNED APPLAUSE to make it sound as if there were actually people in attendance. It was quite sad, especially when Mike kept inviting his listeners to stop by and say hello, knowing full-well that they'd be turned-away at the door. The only thing I could picture was Mike sitting in this darkened, empty, locked restaurant with six people around him - so scared of the world that he had to ruin what should have been an otherwise joyous occasion. Hell, even Vice President Dick Cheney wasn't afraid to watch a few innings of the Little League World Series two days earlier as he sat on a folding chair atop a hill behind the left field fence. But Mike couldn't even peek his head out of a restaurant for ten seconds. How utterly pathetic.

Before ending this article, though, I think it's important to mention one last item which gives a vivid insight into Mike Gallagher's deceptive psyche. Not only did he use canned applause to give the appearance that his broadcast was a smashing success (instead of a dismal portrait of unhinged paranoia), but one of the primary reasons for this trip was Mike's interest in seeing the Little League World Series. Pushing the whole Americana angle, he even went so far as to say on numerous occasions that he'd wanted to attend this event his entire life. He was, after all, a college umpire for many years.

But the reality of what actually happened is far different than his portrayal. Y'see, Gallagher didn't arrive in Williamsport until late Thursday night (after the games had already ended for the day). Early Friday morning he attended a VIP breakfast at 7:30 a.m., then drove directly to the King's Inn Restaurant, where he broadcast from 9:00-12:00 a.m.. Immediately following his show he was to attend the opening of a Republican Party headquarters, then drive out of town to visit another radio station about 45 minutes away. Lastly, he then had to hightail it back to Williamsport to host a bowling fundraiser at 5:00 pm. When this event was brought to a close, he would then fly back to NYC to begin preparations for the Republican National Convention. So, even though he spent weeks hyping how much he wanted to attend the Little League World Series, he may not have even seen one pitch thrown! It was all another phony ruse, and a very poignant indicator of Gallagher's deceptive nature.

What I'm trying to hammer home with this explanation is that Mike Gallagher deceives everyone around him about EVERYTHING! As we've shown over and over again in these articles, Gallagher's an uncontrollable pathological liar. It's at the core of his very being, and he absolutely cannot abstain from it. This guy is the lowest of the low - an untruthful, mentally unbalanced paranoid mess who is in need of immediate psychological help. I hope somebody intervenes soon, because this guy's teetering close to the edge.
