WAR CRIMES.
The terrorist nation of Israel is now absolutely, positively, yet again guilty of war crimes, and at some point in the near future they must be stopped. Or, as a WING TV viewer recently stated in response to our latest poll: “Israel is a state terrorist and the most dangerous country on earth! This monster must be destroyed!”
I couldn’t agree more, especially in light of the latest example of Israeli atrocities which occurred this week when IDF jet fighters deliberately bombed a clearly marked U.N. observer post near Khiyam, Lebanon.
I use the term “deliberate” because U.N. officials warned an Israeli liaison ten times prior to the attack that missiles were landing dangerously close to their locale. After each phone call, IDF officers assured the U.N. they would cease their bombings; yet they never did.
In addition, according to Jan Egeland, humanitarian relief coordinator, the bombed building had been an easily identified U.N. observation point since 1948 – one that Israeli forces would most certainly have been aware of. Still, it was ultimately destroyed by three precision-guided missiles after close-range shelling.
Remember, U.N. peacekeepers contacted Israeli fighters ten times before the onslaught; yet four unarmed observers from China, Finland, Canada, and Austria were killed in cold blood.
But wait, it gets worse. According to U.N. spokesman Milos Struger, after the bunker was deliberately bombed, as workers were trying to clear the debris, Israeli firing “continued even during the rescue operation.”
So now we have two separate war crimes: the initial attack, then the continued bombing of search & rescue workers. If you ask me, this act sounds precisely like Israel’s attack on the USS Liberty in 1967. Not only was this clearly-marked U.S. ship – floating in international waters – deliberately bombarded, but when crewmen tried to escape, the IDF fired bullets into their life rafts – two more war crimes.
But the most recent Lebanon offensive wasn’t the first time Israel has targeted the U.N. In 1996 during another IDF offensive against Lebanon, the Israeli military bombarded a U.N. refugee outpost, murdering over a hundred women, children, and other innocent civilians. Obviously, another brazen war crime.
The big question, of course, is: why would Israel deliberately destroy a U.N. outpost in Southern Lebanon? The answer is twofold: first, there have been a variety of reports chronicling Israel’s use of chemical weapons against Hezbollah – another obvious war crime. And, being that U.N. observers were those most directly able to report on these illegal activities, they had to be taken out (just like the USS Liberty – a spy ship monitoring the Six Day War).
Secondly, since the U.N. was leading convoys which brought relief supplies to Lebanese civilians (food, medicine, water, etc), the attacks were an immediate way to end the humanitarian aid, thus further increasing the pain and suffering inflicted on their enemies.
Even U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, usually a tepid, limp dishrag, has expressed his outrage over this event. After stating that he was “shocked and deeply distressed by the apparently deliberate targeting of a U.N. observer post in Southern Lebanon,” Annan continued, “This coordinated artillery and aerial attack on a long established and clearly marked U.N. post at Khiyam occurred despite personal assurances given to me by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert that U.N. positions would be spared Israeli fire.”
Yet despite their outrage, U.N. officials are hoping that Israel will conduct a full and thorough investigation. Huh? Are they serious? That’s like asking Charles Manson to investigate the Helter Skelter slayings. It’s pretty certain that the true answers wouldn’t be forthcoming.
Naturally, Israel is expressing their “deepest regrets” over this incident, while Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev has said, “Israel would never deliberately target U.N. personnel.”
Right. As someone wrote about this incident, “No, they would never do such a thing – any more than they would ‘accidentally’ bulldoze to death an American peace activist, kill Palestinian families gathered for a seaside outing, or murder 34 American servicemen aboard an unarmed U.S. communications vessel.”
War criminals are among us, and for some inexplicable, deeply regrettable reason, the United States is backing them in Israel. Why?
